The unique properties of Jigsaw Stardust lie in its form and function. The rugs, made in rhombs and hexagons, are easy to place next to each other with an antislip surface. This design not only allows for floor coverage but also wall coverage to reduce disturbing sounds. The different rhomb and hexagon components offer various possibilities for combination, enabling a transformation from a small area rug to a wall-to-wall carpet. The components are easy to clean and exchange, adding to the product's practicality.
Jigsaw Stardust is a product of meticulous craftsmanship and innovative technology. The rug pieces are hand-tufted in pure wool, with some bamboo silk mixed in for extra shine. The lines are embroidered with banana fiber, and each component has rubber antislip triangles attached to stay perfectly in place. The blue rug components are printed on pure wool, showcasing a blend of traditional and modern manufacturing techniques.
The design's technical specifications further highlight its uniqueness. Each side of the rhomb component and the hexagon component measures 630 mm, with a total height of 12 mm. The design tags, including 'Multipurpose Rug', 'Printed wool rug', 'Hexagon area rug', and 'Rhomb rug', aptly describe the product's versatility and innovative design.
The interaction with Jigsaw Stardust is simple and flexible. It is possible to cover small or large areas by placing the rug pieces next to each other in different formations. The design project, which started in March 2016 in Stockholm, was exhibited at the Stockholm Furniture Fair 2017. The development process involved extensive research, especially for the blue rugs printed on wool, and creative challenges, such as adjusting the design lines for the printing process.
Ingrid Kulper Design's Jigsaw Stardust is a testament to the power of innovative design in transforming everyday objects. The design was awarded Silver in A' Furniture Design Award in 2017, a prestigious accolade given to designs that showcase outstanding expertise, innovation, and artistic skill. The award recognizes the remarkable level of excellence in Jigsaw Stardust and its ability to introduce positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
